Cresta leadership update: Welcoming Russell Banzon as new Chief Marketing Officer

We are thrilled to announce that Russell Banzon is joining Cresta as our new Chief Marketing Officer.
Russell brings over a decade of experience in technology and marketing, helping grow multiple companies from early stage to over $100M in ARR. We’re excited to welcome him to the team.
Read on to hear from Russell in his own words about his career journey, what inspired him to join Cresta, and what excites him most about the future of AI.

Tell us about yourself. What’s your background?

I’ve spent the last decade-plus in various marketing roles, helping grow multiple companies from early stage to over $100M in ARR.
I’ll be joining Cresta as CMO after spending the last five years in the AI space as a senior marketing executive at Gong and, before then, a global demand generation leader in the contact center industry at Talkdesk.
In addition to my operating roles, I’m also an advisor at early- to mid-stage SaaS companies, helping drive growth.
As a numbers person by trade, having graduated with a financial economics degree and spending the early part of my career at Morgan Stanley, I’ve developed a passion for both the art and science of marketing.
On the personal side, I’m a first-generation American with a passion for DEI and belonging. Dance has been my craft of choice, spending many years as a semi-professional dancer and director.
Lastly, I’m a die-hard Warriors and Raiders fan.

What inspired you to join Cresta?

Three things inspired me to join Cresta.
First
, the team. Cresta has an incredible roster of leaders and board members who are deeply passionate about creating meaningful impact for customers while building a winning company.
Second
, the market dynamics. AI is the next great technology revolution, and the contact center industry is one of the first markets positioned to benefit from structured conversations and repetitive workflows.
Cresta is already helping customers improve close rates, reduce average handle time, and ultimately drive stronger business outcomes.
Third
, the opportunity to be part of an incredible journey. Cresta has tremendous momentum behind it, coming off a triple-digit growth year.

What is your role at Cresta? What does a typical day look like?

At Cresta, I serve as Chief Marketing Officer, leading the organization responsible for brand, demand generation, messaging, positioning, and communications.
The role is highly dynamic—no two days are the same. I balance everything from marketing campaigns and sales messaging to analyst relations.
The constant throughout it all is partnering with our leadership team to move Cresta forward while staying close to our customers as a GTM leader.

What excites you most about the product?

In many ways, Cresta feels like magic.
Taking all conversation data, understanding what’s being said using NLP and AI trained on customer-specific data, and transforming that into agent coaching, AI copilots, and virtual agents feels like turning the impossible into reality.
When you combine today’s capabilities with the pace of innovation, it’s exciting to imagine where the platform will be in the years ahead.

What trends do you see shaping this space over the next year?

Now is the time.
With the explosion of AI in 2023 and the rapid development of enterprise applications that deliver measurable business value, I believe we’ll see organizations move beyond innovators and early adopters much faster than before.
Over the next 12 months, more companies will understand how AI can drive increased revenue and lower costs.
Cresta sits at the center of that opportunity.

What’s the most important quality for a new Crestan?

As a new Crestan myself, this answer will likely evolve over time.
But my initial response comes from something our CEO, Ping Wu, recently said:

“It is always Day 1.”

Having a Day 1 mindset is essential for everyone at Cresta, regardless of tenure.
Day 1 is filled with enthusiasm.
Day 1 is driven by curiosity.
Day 1 means embracing the humility of being a beginner.
Day 1 means solving difficult problems.
That mindset consistently produces great results, no matter someone’s experience or natural talent.

Please join us in welcoming Russell to the Cresta team!
