Zoom says it's "changing the future of work" (again) by partnering to reduce the need to switch applications and speeding up user workflow.
AWS has announced that the Amazon Q Business index now integrates with the Zoom AI Companion, letting Zoom users retrieve enterprise data from sources like Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, Salesforce, and SharePoint without leaving the Zoom interface.
A familiar environment: According to official documentation and industry coverage, this new feature connects knowledge sources, customer records, call transcripts, and more, all within a single workspace. In a company statement, Swami Sivasubramanian, Amazon's VP of AWS Agentic AI, pointed to time savings gained by remaining within Zoom’s familiar environment.
Consolidation: The partnership builds on AWS’s decision to sunset its Chime platform and move internal teams to Zoom. Zoom’s suite—including Contact Center, Workplace, Revenue Accelerator, and Workvivo—became available in the AWS marketplace, reflecting a broader market move toward unified, AI-powered platforms that consolidate productivity tools.
Governance and Enterprise readiness: Under the hood, the Amazon Q Business Data Accessor ensures that only authorized users can access specific data sources via Zoom’s AI Companion. Administrators set up IAM Identity Center, configure Zoom as a data accessor, and establish granular permissions to comply with enterprise security standards. Still, the integration introduces governance challenges, as enterprises must carefully maintain access controls to prevent unauthorized data disclosure.
